Description

Bradford White RG275H6N 75 Gallon Natural Gas Water Heater with 76,000 BTU High Input and Atmospheric Vent

The Bradford White RG275H6N is a 75-gallon residential natural gas water heater engineered to deliver consistent, high-volume hot water for homes with 5 or more occupants. With a 76,000 BTU input and atmospheric vent design, this unit provides an 80% recovery efficiency and rapid heating performance that keeps pace with heavy household demand. Built around Bradford White's ICON System (an intelligent gas control powered by millivolt technology with a built-in piezo igniter), the RG275H6N combines proven reliability with enhanced temperature precision, making it a professional-grade solution for contractors and homeowners who need dependable, long-term water heating without external power dependency.

Key Features & Benefits
  • ICON System Intelligent Gas Control: Microprocessor-controlled burner operation maintains tight temperature differentials and consistent water temperature, while the millivolt-powered design requires no external electricity to operate. You get reliable hot water even during power outages, plus enhanced first-hour delivery ratings and precise temperature management.

  • Hydrojet 2 Total Performance System: Factory-installed cold water inlet device reduces sediment buildup in the tank and increases first-hour hot water delivery. This extends tank life and maintains heating efficiency over years of use, reducing maintenance frequency.

  • Vitraglas Tank Lining: Exclusively engineered enamel formula fired at over 1,600°F fuses to the steel surface, providing superior protection against corrosion from hot water exposure. This premium lining extends tank lifespan and protects your investment in high-demand residential applications.

  • Separate Immersed Thermowell: High-strength advanced polymer composite thermowell isolates the electric temperature sensor from surrounding water, allowing gas valve removal without draining the tank. Service and diagnostics become faster and simpler, minimizing downtime.

  • Non-CFC Foam Insulation: Covers tank sides and top (1.25 inches thick on this 75-gallon model), reducing heat loss and improving operational efficiency. Lower standby energy consumption translates to reduced utility costs over the heater's service life.

  • Diagnostic LED System: Green LED light provides positive pilot-on indication and offers ten diagnostic codes to assist troubleshooting. Installers and service technicians can quickly identify issues, reducing callback time and repair costs.

  • True Dielectric Water Connections: Factory-installed 1-inch NPT fittings extend water heater life by preventing galvanic corrosion and simplify installation. These connections are compatible with both copper and PEX plumbing systems.

  • Tamper-Proof Brass Drain Valve: Ball-valve design (not faucet-style) provides reliable drainage and sediment flushing. The robust construction resists damage and ensures long-term serviceability.

Compatibility & Requirements

This water heater requires a 1/2-inch natural gas connection and a 4-inch vent size for atmospheric venting through a lined masonry chimney or approved venting system per local codes. The unit features 1-inch NPT water connections and includes side-mounted 3/4-inch NPT tappings for space heating applications (potable water only). The RG275H6N operates without external electrical power, relying on millivolt energy from the pilot flame. Installation requires compliance with all manufacturer specifications and local plumbing and building codes.

Installation & Care

Installation must be performed by a licensed professional in accordance with the provided installation manual and local ordinances. The unit must connect to a lined masonry chimney or approved venting system, and the 4-inch draft diverter (included) must be installed per manual instructions. The water heater ships with a factory-installed T&P relief valve. Regular maintenance includes periodic draining through the brass drain valve to remove sediment, annual inspection of the protective magnesium anode rod (replaceable via the separate hex-head access), and visual checks of vent connections and burner operation using the diagnostic LED system.

What's Included
  • RG275H6N 75-gallon atmospheric vent water heater
  • 4-inch snap-lock draft diverter
  • Factory-installed Hydrojet 2 inlet device
  • Factory-installed T&P relief valve
  • Factory-installed true dielectric water fittings
  • Tamper-proof brass drain valve
  • Protective magnesium anode rod (installed)

Warranty & Support

The Bradford White RG275H6N includes a 6-year limited warranty on the tank and a 6-year limited warranty on component parts. Warranty coverage is subject to proper installation, operation, and maintenance per manufacturer guidelines. For warranty service or technical support, contact Bradford White directly or consult an authorized service provider.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does a Bradford White 75 gallon water heater last?

A: Bradford White 75-gallon residential water heaters are designed for extended service life when properly maintained. The RG275H6N features Vitraglas tank lining (fired at over 1,600°F for superior corrosion resistance), a protective magnesium anode rod, and a Hydrojet 2 system to reduce sediment buildup. Regular anode rod inspection and replacement, combined with periodic tank flushing, are critical to maximizing lifespan. Customer reviews report Bradford White units lasting 20 years or more with proper care, though the manufacturer provides a 6-year limited tank warranty.

Q: How much does a 75 gallon water heater cost to install?

A: Installation costs vary based on local labor rates, existing plumbing and venting infrastructure, permit requirements, and whether upgrades (such as gas line sizing or vent modifications) are needed. The RG275H6N requires professional installation by a licensed plumber or contractor, including connections to a 1/2-inch natural gas line, 1-inch water lines, and a 4-inch atmospheric vent system approved by local codes. Factor in additional expenses for accessories like expansion tanks, water heater pans, and compliant venting materials when budgeting for the project.

The best tank water heater for large homes

Used in 5 bedroom 5 bath home. Ridiculously fast recovery time, lots and lots of hot water. Unlike smaller Bradford White heaters, this unit has a separate Anode that can be inspected and replaced. Also the brass drain valve is a ball-valve type, not the faucet kind. Very high quality heater. You feel you are getting your money's worth (unlike the ones in the big-box stores) Huge step up from previous heater. The only choice for a large home heater if you are not going to go tankless. Highly recommend professional installer--this thing is HEAVY, uses larger size pipes for both water and chimney. We replaced two 50 gallon Bradford white heaters (that the builder incorrectly put in series) and this single unit out performs many times over. Expansion tank is a must for this unit. (even if not required by local codes. you need one)

Big dent on the top edge of the water heater

Water heater showed up today in a perfect condition box, so looked fine until I pulled the box off later in the day and it had a big dent on the top edge. Also, 1.0 in water fittings?? Who has 1 in water fittings for residential. And the hose on the page for accessories is the STANDARD SIZE 3/4 in water connections. This is costing me a lot more money to figure out how to connect the water lines after I replace a 50gal Bradford White NG Water heater.

Very satisfied but shipping delayed 1 week to winter weather

Bought a Bradford White 75-gallon water heater - Model # RG275H6N with a mixing valve. Due to winter storm - shipping was delayed 1 week so really out of company control. Everything else went as planned from communication, shipping and delivery. Highly recommend this water heater and having delivered to your place as it saves a lot of money vs. having a plumber obtaining it for you with their up charges.

Failed at 6 years

I had this Bradford White water heater (Model No. RG275H6N) and it failed at 6 years of use. This is very disappointing given the warranty had just expired and the replacement cost which is double what it was in 2019. I do not recommend Bradford White water heaters unless you can purchase an extended warranty beyond 6 years.

Very solid, easy to use controls, heats fast

Very happy with the purchase. Only downsides are it's heavy (275lb - but I suppose that's an indicator of quality) and it has 1" connections, so I needed adapters. Otherwise a simple install, works great, heats really fast.

Grear product

My previous one lasted 20yrs. Inside was still good, never had a problem. When replaced, the only issue was rust formation at the water inlet (which could have technically been repaired).
