Rebate
Think Green, Save Green. Rebate and incentive programs provide cash-back to consumers for the purchase of appliances that meet certain energy efficiency standards. Most states are offering rebates in the $50 to $250 range. You can search for rebates in your area from here.

Note: Isolation valves are not included but are recommended for installation.

Released in 2010, the T-KJr2-IN & T-KJr2-OS are the smallest water heaters in the Takagi tankless line. This small, but powerful unit can meet all the hot-water needs of a small American home or apartment with one or two bathrooms. Designed to virtually do anything a 40-gallon tank-type water heater can do and more, the compact, wall mounted T-K Jr. can provide domestic hot water to plumbing fixtures and appliances.

Cost-efficient and environmentally friendly, the T-KJr2-IN can be converted into a direct-vent unit by using the optional TV10 conversion kit for installation in a garage, a utility closet or any confined space in which makeup air may be limited.

Used for in floor heat

I'm using this unit to run one zone to heat my 1,000 sqft garage. So far this is awesome! This unit is very quiet and makes 167 degree water effortlessly. Here are some technical aspects of my system. I have one zone with three loops of half inch pex tubing (all loops are 300' each) I have a taco 00R-MSF1-IFC multi speed circulation pump With a taco SR501 switching relay. The flow rate of my system is 2.4gpm. With a solid plan of what I needed supply house delivered everything I needed in addition to the Takagi I got all the fittings, expansion tank, air separator, webstone multi valves and venting with no problems. I should add that the customer at supply house is fantastic as well, my original order I purchased the z-vent 4" w/back flow kit I did end up returning and 100% hassle free. My venting solution was resolved by buying the concentric termination kit, which I'm glad I did.

Takes some time

Have experienced alot of cold water sandwiches and have to let it run longer than the Rheem unit I had. I had some programing issues the first week of operation that I had to call the toll free line. The customer support was great they walk you through the troubleshooting completely. For the money compared to the Rheem unit and the hassels I had with it this unit far exceeds my expectations. Definitely consult local building codes and install accordingly. Used in a 1200 sq ft apartment. Winter time groundwater is quite cold compared to some other areas of country. It will keep up but runs a little longer with frequent dips in temp.

Direct vent kit restricted air flow and made extreme noise.

I installed this with normal galvanized piping for venting and it worked perfectly! had the inspector come he told me it had to be stainless steel so I ordered the concentric kit for just under $200 moved my water heater to a outside wall and the first week it made a noise that could literally Wake the Dead when I used 3 gpm and above, if I use just one faucet one and a half gallons a minute it didn't do it but I remove the 3in intake and front cover off of it and it seems to work fine but a total waste of $200 on the direct vent kit I would definitely make sure and do your research and make sure you have enough airflow it was restricting the airflow able to intake through 3in pipe not sure why exactly but I contacted supplyhouse they are giving me a replacement for its discontined through the manufacturer. I might add the supply house support was absolutely flawless in their customer service I will definitely always be doing business with them the rest of my life.

Froze and Broke

This product is advertised as an indoor hot water heater with "freeze protection." We had it installed in our tiny house. The tiny house was winterized by blowing out all the water lines. In the spring, we turned the water back on and water gushed from the bottom of the hot water heater. It had froze broke.

Great product

I actually just replaced the old water heater, the exact same thing, it lasted about 14 years, so installation wasn't to difficult, and so far it works great

Excellent!

My new water heater is working well. It arrived quickly, in perfect condition, and was installed by a professional technician. Because it is in the basement, I insulated the water pipes to help with the "cold water sandwich." I appreciated the price (best I found,) the prompt delivery, and the kind telephone service about proof of purchase for warranty purposes. All in all....an excellent purchase in every way!

You will also need a Direct Vent Conversion Kit (Part TK-TV10) and an Adjustable Concentric Termination (Part TK-KPCT43-2).

Q: I am thinking about installing one of these in an RV replacing my hot water heater. Have you heard of anyone doing this? What kind of venting would be required? Could I run this system on 12v power? If I wanted to also use this in replacement of my furnace, what components would be needed? Thank you.

Yes, you can use Takagi tankless units in an RV. Please refer to page 12 of the Installation Manual ( http://s3.pexsupply.com/manuals/1289416869887/41431_PROD_FILE.pdf ) for venting instructions. This system requires a 120 volt power supply. It can be used as the heat source in hydronic heating systems, but cannot replace a furnace to supply forced hot air.
