Seat fail in 3+ years
The seat assemblies start to leak after 3+ years. I believe that the copper bellows that keeps the piston watertight just starts to breakdown. Taco fails to redesign it. The assy. costs as much as the valve, so if you get the whole valve and take out the seat assy., you must recycle all the brass on the outside. It's a poor and costly design and not worth the trouble for the long haul.

Cheaper than the rebuild kit.
Had a zone valve fail. Hot water was circulating in this loop when any zone called for heat. I bought this just for the inside valve. I am using the valve, spring and motor. It cheaper than the rebuild kit.

Worked like a charm
Exact replacement for a 30+ year old one that was sticking. No fuss (well, sweat soldering is not a lot of fun, but that's not the valve's fault and I wanted to not change things up since I'll possibly replace the aging furnace next year anyway).
So if another one sticks, (I have 4 zones) I'll buy it again.

Q: i need to know what 123 are for my aquastat wiring diagram show 4 wires going to each zone valve but it was working with this 571 valve. i cant find the diagram for this zone valve

Q: I'm having a problem with controling the heat in my house. It is always 6-8 degrees hotter then the thermastat. I have two zones with two Taco 571-2. They both have the lever up in the open position. Would it help if I put them in the close position? What would happen if I put them in the closed position? Thank you.

Q: One of my 571-2 zone valves seems to not be functional. If set to normal operation, nothing. If I set the manual override to "open" the system keeps running and overheats the space. Is it likely just needing a replacement contol (40) or a full replacement?

Q: I have these zone valves and a six zone control. I am trying to get a handle on how to wire everything. Is it okay to wire up the zone valve without having it plumbed in, just to see if it works properly? I did wire up the three wire system and connect the thermostat wires, and got a bit of smoke from the zone valve head, so I disconnected it quickly.

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffYes, you would be able to wire the zone valves before you install them into the system to ensure they are operating properly. However, there should be no factory smoke coming out of the unit. We recommend having a licensed installer come in and double check the wiring.
